Obituary of Michael J. Prokop
PROKOP – Michael J. “Jack”, 85, of Colver passed away October 26, 2023 surrounded by family. Born October 16, 1938 in Sankertown, Pa, son of the late Michael and Lois (Brown) Prokop. Proceeded in death by his wife of 50 years, Margaret “Peg” (Murphy) Prokop; his grandson Steven Prokop; brothers: Francis, Russell, and Tom, and sisters: Bonnie and Elizabeth. Michael is survived by his four children: Ronald (Tricia) Prokop, Larry (Bonnie) Prokop, Kenneth (Amy) Prokop, Nicole (Chad) Olexa. Also survived by grandchildren: Jason, Matthew, Justin, Brandon, Kiersten, Andrew, and Emma. Jack was a US Army veteran and a UMWA member of 50 years, retiring as a heavy equipment operator and loved the outdoors. He hunted and fished with his children and their friends at any opportunity he could. In the summer he loved to garden and share the bounty he grew with family and friends. Later in life he found his love of racing and going to the local tracks with his grandsons Steven and Andrew. Michael enjoyed traveling with his family to visit his children and relatives when they lived out of state. Friends will be received Monday, Oct. 30th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon, the Rev. Fr. Christopher Lemme, T.O.R., officiating, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc. Ebensburg.
