Obituary of Thomas Walter Hill, Sr.

HILL - Thomas Walter Sr., "Tom", 80 years, Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  Born July 4, 1943.  Went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 25, 2024.  Son of the late Walter Davis Hill and Mary Jane (Keller) Hill, with whom he is having a beautiful reunion in Heaven.  Survived by loving wife of 45 years, Sharon (Houston) Hill, daughter Melissa Boback, grandchildren Belinda "Squeak" Hill and Logan Thomas Boback, and dog "Pal".  Also survived by son Thomas Hill, Jr., and grandchildren Nathan and Brylie; brother Larry (Roberta) Hill and nephews Larry Jr. and Christopher; sister-in-law Sandra Spisak, nephew James Spisak; brother-in-law Jack (Faye) Houston and niece Jackie (Mike) Bywaters and late nephew Jason.  Lifetime member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mundy's Corner. Tom retired from Bethlehem Steel and Johnstown America, and was known throughout the community as a talented welder.  As many people told his daughter, Tom could weld two pieces of paper together if he wanted to.  Always willing to lend a hand to someone in need, he would often weld things for churches in the area and insisted upon not taking payment for those jobs.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was fiercly devoted to his family.  Tom was loyalty and faithfulness personified.  His home was his castle, and his presence always brought peace and comfort for his wife and family.  He was the rock upon which his family was built, and we will honor him and miss him every single day.  Friends will be received on Monday, 5/27/2024 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo and on Tuesday 5/28/2024 from 10:00 a.m., until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, Vicar Jenn Bobolsky-Sherbine, officiating.  Interment at Ogden Cemetery.  Condolences to the family may be left at www.askew-houser.com
