Obituary of Robert A. Makin

MAKIN - Robert A., 86, of South Ebensburg, passed away on Monday July 29, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving family.  Born November 25th, 1937 in South Ebensburg, son of the late Clarence J. and Charlotte (Hughes) Makin.  Preceded in death by daughter Debra Ann Heimrich; son Clyde Robert Makin; daughter-in-law Darlene (Schenk) Makin;   brothers: Jack, Clyde, Kenny and Phillip "Ned" Makin, and sister M. Matilda Dickson.   Survived by the former Ann (Larimer) Makin to whom he was married 70 years and these children:  Robert Stephen Makin; Rebecca Lynn (Joseph) Klezek; and Sandra Jean (Brian) Sossong.  Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and brother James C. Makin.  Bob was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp where he served as a analyist.  He will be fondly remembered as a school bus driver for special needs students for 20 years.  A member of the South Ebensburg United Church of Christ, where he had served as Deacon, and trustee.  Also a member of the Cambria County Saddle Club.  Bob enjoyed life, family and his home , which he affectionately referred to as "Windbriar".  Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, and from 2:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Ebensburg United Church of Christ (Congregational),  Mr. Andrew Jones, officiating.  Interment at Lloyd Cemetery  Bob's family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Scott Magley's office, Mr. Andrew Jones, and the special ladies that assisted to his home care.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to the South Ebensburg United Church of Christ, 380 Wilmore Road, Portage, Pa.  15946
