Obituary of S. Lucille Bowen
BOWEN - S. Lucille Bowen, 89, of Ebensburg, passed away August 24, 2024. Born December 12, 1934 in Ebensburg, daughter of the late Russell and Evelyn (Brothers) Phillips.
Preceded in death by brother, Thomas Phillips and grandson, Brian Rio. Survived by daughters: Amy (Alan) Suska, Henderson, TN; Faith (Denny) Rio, New Port Ritchey, FL.; and Julianne Grove, of Ebensburg, Pa.; Also Five Grandchildren and Seven Great-Grandchildren. Lucille was a retired Registered Nurse, her career spanned over 50 years. She served both Ebensburg and Cresson State Schools, Admiral Peary Vo-tech, and the United High School as a school nurse. In the summer season, she would assist Girl Scout Camps and the Cerebral Palsy Summer Outings. Lucille was fearless, in her forties she learned to scuba dive and never shied away from learning new things. She was a skilled Bridge and Duplicate Player, made beautiful quilts, loved to travel and insisted on an annual trip to the beach (her happy place) with all of the family. A Member of the Ebensburg First Baptist Church.
Friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31st., at the Askew-Houser Funeral Home, Inc. 300 N. Julian Street, Ebensburg, where a Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Rev. Jarod Boling, officiating. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucille's memory may be made to the Cambria County Humane Society (www.humanecambria.org)
