JOHNSON – Margaret Ruth, a beloved mother and grandmother went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2024. Born October 1, 1926 in Johnstown to the late Norman and Elva (Adams) Nipps. She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas I. Johnson, son, Thomas E.; and daughter in law, Mary Ann Johnson; brothers, Sherrill and Dean Nipps; and sister, Ellen Berdomas. Ruth is survived by daughter, Mona (Chooch) Soyka; grandchildren, Nicole (Roger) Rummel, Jennifer (Mike) Giuffre, Jocelyn (Clint) Divido and Erik Johnson. She is also survived by her great grandchildren who she adored, Adison and Liam Divido; Carter and Chase Rummel; Hailey and Emily Giuffre; and special loving cousin, Bobby Chilcott. Ruth had a great love for music, playing both clarinet and piano. She enjoyed reminiscing of her days in the Nanty-Glo High School Marching Band. She also enjoyed telling stories of her days working at Rhineharts and Tibbotts Pharmacy as a young lady. She had a great love for her family and enjoyed her time spent with them. Ruth was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Nanty Glo, where she spent many years singing in the choir and truly enjoyed the company and friendship of the congregation. Friends will be received from 3 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Pastor Russ Havener, officiating. Interment, Pike Brethren Cemetery, Mundys Corner. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Ruth’s memory can send donations to The Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Nanty Glo or to The Nanty Glo Fire Company.
