Obituary of Russell W. Rupe

RUPE – Russell W., 78, of Cresson Twp. and a native of Nanty Glo, passed away unexpectedly on November 11, 2024 at home.  Born July 28, 1946 in Johnstown, son of the late Charles R. and Edna P. (Summerville) Rupe.  Preceded in death by his brother Robert E. Rupe and aunt Helen Yobaggy.  Survived by his wife of 23 years, the former Jane (Christoff) Rupe; son Adam (Bill) Rupe;  stepdaughter,  Kelly (Dave) Bracken and stepson Donald (Juanita) Christoff; grandchildren: Andrew Christoff; Autumn and Hunter Bracken; and great grandchildren Hunter and Boone Zeiders.  Also survived by brother, Richard (Gail) Rupe.  Russell was an Army veteran, having served as a coder in the Vietnam War.  He retired from PennDOT where he served many years as a bridge inspector.  Russ enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with family and working in his yard.   He loved people, relished his breakfasts at the Keystone Restaurant and enjoyed being out and about the community to share friendship with others.  At his request there will be no viewing.  A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.  Interment at East Ridge Cemetery, Hastings.  Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.  Condolences to the family may be left at www.askew-houser.com  In lieu of flowers, donations in Russell's memory made be made to the Angel Care Fund at the Ebensburg Animal Hospital, 922 Rowena Drive, Ebensburg, Pa.  15931
