DINO – Veronica, 101, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away Oct. 24, 2017 at Concordia of South Hills, Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 30, 1915 in Twin Rocks, daughter of the late Felix and Antonia (Rinaldi) Losurdo. Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Michael and Joseph; husband, Joseph M. Dino; son, Joseph Michael Dino II; an infant son; and cousins in Pittsburgh and Torrington,CT. Survived by daughter, Rosa (the late Thomas) Hassett, of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nanty Glo for 64 years. Member of St. Philip Parish, Pittsburgh, since moving to be with her daughter. Veronica was an avid reader and loved to learn. She especially enjoyed swimming at the YMCA in Johnstown, going on cruises with her husband, volunteering at the Nanty Glo Library and playing pinochle with relatives and treasured friends. Graduate of Indiana State Teachers College, now IUP. She was a teacher in Twin Rocks, Vintondale, East Taylor and the Ebensburg Center; and a substitute teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Nanty Glo. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Leonard Voytek, celebrant. Committal, St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Veronica’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church, Nanty Glo Public Library or to a charity of your choice.
