PACKER – John “Jack”, Sr., 67, of Nanty Glo, passed away Feb. 24, 2013 outdoors, where he loved the most. Born June 26, 1945 in Nanty Glo, son of the late James and Beatrice (Yeager) Packer. Preceded in death by sisters, Maryanne Kline and Ellen Rice; and brother, James Packer. Survived by wife, of 43 years, the former Carolyn Peterman; son, John and wife, Malissa; and twin granddaughters, Eva and Aubry Packer, whom he adored. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Formerly employed by Bethlehem Steel Corp. Past President of Jackson Twp. Rod & Gun Club; a former Fire Warden, he was a member and past president of the Forest Fire Wardens Assoc. Also a member of the Nanty Glo Fire Company, American Legion Riders, and past member of the Blue Knights. A Army veteran during the Vietnam War. Jack had also served as a PA State Constable for 27 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, Pastor Geno Bartoletti, officiating. Military Rite by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks, and Vintondale area veterans organizations.
