Obituary of Thomas R. Morrison

MORRISON - Thomas R., 66 , of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord Nov. 10, 2015 at home. Born Aug. 27, 1949 in Phillipsburg, son of the late Fred and Beulah Morrison. Survived by wife, of 44 years, Nancy Morrison; children, Mark (Amy) Morrison; and Sharon Cobaugh. Grandsons, Joel Morrison; Evan Cobaugh; and Joshua Morrison. Brother of Joe Morrison; Fred (Karin) Morrison; Sue Rowles; and Robert " Tim" Morrison; and many nieces and nephews. US Army veteran during the Vietnam War. Retired from Penelec with 32 years of service. Member of Jackson Twp. Community Rod & Gun Club, Coal Country Auto Club, Rusty Nutzs Auto Club, American Legion, NRA, Masonic Lodge-Summit Lodge #312, Valley of Altoona, Twin Rocks Sportsmans Club; and Jackson Twp. Senior Center. Tom was a very special person. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Someone who was always first to lend a helping hand. He loved his antique vehicles, cruising in his Camaro and driving his pick-up in the Johnstown Halloween Parade. Tom enjoyed racing, hunting and making the best deer jerky around. He loved spending time with his grandsons, working on cars or driving his tractor. Tom fought a long battle with cancer, but never let it stop him from doing the things he loved. His favorite saying was, " I m not giving up. " May he now rest in the peace he so deserves. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc. Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Elder Elton Blenden, officiating. Entombment to follow at Holy Name Mausoleum, Ebensburg. Military Rite by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks and Vintondale area veterans ritual team. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tom' s memory to any of the above organizations or to the family to distribute to the above organizations.
