BUCHANAN - James J. "Bucky" , 81, of Vinco, passed away March 9, 2015 at home. Born July 13, 1933 in Johnstown, son of the late Herman and Veronica (Hayes) Buchanan. Preceded in death by son, David J., and daughter, Christine M. Buchanan. Survived by wife, of 59 years, the former JoAnn Warmus; and children, James (Natalie) Buchanan; and Cheryl (James) Swartzentruver; daughter in law, Kathy Buchanan; seven grandchildren and three great grandsons. Also survived by sister, Shirley Brunskill; and many special friends. Member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner. US Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict. Life member of Nanty Glo VFW Post 3489. Retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. with 36 years of service. Bucky was an avid fisherman and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. John Vianney Church, the Very Rev. Andrew C. Stanko, VF, celebrant. Committal, St. Mary s Cemetery, Nanty Glo. Military Rite by Nanty Glo, Vintondale and Twin Rocks Area Veterans Ritual Team.
