Obituary of William A. Griffith

GRIFFITH - William A., 88, of Vinco, passed away peacefully August 19, 2015 at Cambria Care Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 17, 1926 in Jenner, Somerset Co., son of the late Martin and Mary (Hemminger) Griffith. He was preceded in death by his son Thomas, grandson Austin, sister Evelyn Lehman, and brother Frederick Griffith. He is survived by his wife, Lois Jane (Schoop) Griffith, to whom he was married 62 years; and these children: Pamela, wife of Lyle Folckemer, Vinco, and Timothy Martin, married to the former Sheri Findley, of Nanty Glo. Also survived by granddaughter Kerrie (Michael) Emerson, New York; grandson Timothy M. Griffith, Jr.(fiance Samantha), of Nanty Glo; brother Donald (Ann), of Hollidaysburg; sister-in-law Shirley Griffith, Somerset, and brother-in-law Robert Lehman, Holsopple. Bill retired with 45 years of service as a mechanic at SaniDairy, Johnstown, and in his retirement years assisted the sales team at Hagerich Auto. A World War II Navy veteran. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. Special thanks are extended to the Cambria Care Center and Home Nursing Agency Hospice for their care and assistance during Bill's illness. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, the Rev. Drew Walther and Rev. Marvin Lowery, officiating. Interment at Benshoff Hill Cemetery, Johnstown.
