SHOUP – Betty Lou, 89, of Jackson Twp., went to be with the Lord Dec. 13, 2018 at Allegheny Lutheran Home, Johnstown. Born July 30, 1929 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Ernest R. and Louisa S. (Huebner) Speicher. Preceded in death by husband, Rahl C. “Jack”; and twin brothers, Roy and Robert. Survived by brothers, James and Richard (Evelyn); numerous nieces and nephews; and good friends, Steve and Patty. Member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mundys Corner. Graduate of Richland High School. Member of Jackson Twp. Lioness, Jackson Twp. Senior Center, Pioneers of GTE and Farm Women; as well as other clubs and organizations. Betty Lou retired from GTE in 1985 with 34 years of service. She was extremely well traveled in the US and abroad. Betty Lou always had her canine companion by her side. She enjoyed cross stitching, knitting, crocheting and card crafting. Betty Lou’s family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Allegheny Lutheran Home for their compassionate care. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Pastor Kevin McNamara, officiating. Interment, Mt. Tabor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty Lou’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Cambria County Humane Society.
