GRIFFITH Lillian I, Nanty Glo, left the arms of her son, Stephen C., and daughter, Patricia E. Mills, to go to her eternal home Aug. 6, 2015. Born Dec. 11, 1929, to the late Margarete (Franz) Goetz and Peter Andreas Goetz in Hof, Germany. Preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Griffith, and beloved brother-in-law, Dr. Eugen Giegler. Also survived by her sister, Christa F. Giegler, Germany; daughter, Christa L. Stewart; grandchildren, Erika L. Cheatle, Courtney A. Hoffman and Allan and Anji Stewart; and great-grandson, Logan Hoffman. She graduated from the University of Munich with a bachelor s degree in medical technology. Lillian had worked at the former Lee and Mercy Hospitals in Johnstown and retired from East Hills Laboratory. Most recently, she had worked at Vinco Pharmacy Inc. until 2012. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, Johnstown, and a member of St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mundys Corner. Lillian was previously very active at First Lutheran, having served on the church council and many committees, the VFW auxiliary, Nanty Glo Fire ladies and founding Nanty Glo Park and Pool. Lillian was an avid bowler, tennis player, bicyclist and crafter. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul s Lutheran Church, the Rev. Kevin McNamara, officiating. Interment, Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.
