BEHORY - John, Sr. “Jake”, 95, of Cardiff, passed away June 2, 2017 at Rebekah Manor, Ebensburg. Born Nov. 3, 1921 in Cardiff, son of the late Stephen and Rachel (Saboni) Behory. Preceded in death by wife, Doris; sons, Ronald and Gary; brothers, William, Paul, Andrew and Stephen; and two infant brothers, Paul and William; and sister, Mary March. Survived by sons, John Jr. (Carole) Behory; and Timothy (April) Behory. Grandchildren, Mark, Deborah, John III, Jason, Justin, Kayla, Elyse, Quentin and Lauren; and numerous great grandchildren. Brother of Velma Behory, Sara Behory and Emma Fisher; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Nanty Glo Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. WW II Army veteran. Longtime area coal miner. Jake enjoyed gardening and hunting; and was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Pastor Bud Vogel, officiating. Interment, Pike Brethren Cemetery, Mundys Corner. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jake’s memory may be made to Nanty Glo Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. Military Rite by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks and Vintondale area Veterans Ritual Team.
