BARR – Stephen,85, of Vinco, passed away October 13, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Born February 19, 1933 in Nanty Glo, son of Fred and Susan (Hutsko) Barr. Preceded in death by parents, sisters: Alice, Margaret, Helen, Anne and Mary; and brothers George, Joseph, John and Fred. Survived by wife, the former Maryann (Skubik) Barr, to whom he was married 62 years and children: Philip (Cindy Sojak) Barr and Kathleen (Ron) Teeter, all of Vinco; grandsons, Michael Teeter, Douglas and Gordon Barr; and great-grandson, Weston Teeter. Also survived by sisters, Dorothy LePine and Patricia Miller. Steve was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp, where he had worked at the Blast Furnace. An Army veteran of the Korean War. Steve was an active member of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, Mundys Corner, where he had been active in the Legion of Mary, and as a worker at Fr. Quinn Hall, assisting with church dinners, weddings and funeral dinner set-up. He enjoyed gardening and was always available to assist his neighbors and friends with projects. Friends will be received at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Vianney Church, Rev. Fr. Leonard Voytek, celebrant. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum.
