KANIA – Ronald C., 58, of Nanty Glo, passed away December 22, 2018 at home after a brave battle with ALS. He is preceded in death by his father, Stanley Kania, Sr., sisters: Rosemary and Linda; and brother Gary Kania. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 32 years, June (VanNest) Kania; daughter Sasha (Kania) Kelley and son-in-law Shane Kelley; precious grandson Liam; and granddogs “Nahla” and “Peaches”. Also his mother, Mary (Anstead) Kania, Twin Rocks; and brothers and sisters: Stanley (Susan) Kania, Clymer; Geraldine (Jeff) Fletcher, Nanty Glo; Florine (Gerald) Rupert, Indiana; Walter and Raymond, both of Ebensburg; Mary (Kevin) Silvis, Avonmore; Brenda (Norman) Smith, Clune; and Gordon (Brenda) Kania, Nanty Glo and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron loved the outdoors, including archery, hunting, motorcycle riding, hiking, quad riding, and taking vacations. He loved his family and spending time with them, and was always willing to help out others. Ron always provided laughter and humor to those around him, and had a memorable contagious laugh. He is a former driver for Sheetz, Inc. He was loved by many whom blessed him with a wonderful support team throughout his journey. Many thanks to the entire AseraCare Hospice team for their kind and compassionate care and support. Friends will be received from 1 to 3:00 p.m and 6 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28th, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 29th at the Revloc Presbyterian Church, (648 Highland Avenue, Revloc), Pastor David O’Hara, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the ALS Association Western PA Chapter (416 Lincoln Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15209 or online at www.cure4als.org)
