I'm so shocked and saddened to hear the news of Michelle's passing. She was an immensely kind-hearted, sincere person who could light up a room and make everyone feel special. We worked together and became friends at the Dough Roller in Ocean City. We had two summers working and hanging out together. The world would be a much better place if there were more Michelle's in it. Today, things seem a little darker. She was loved by many and while her life was tragically too short, she made a positive impact and touched so many, both human and animal. My thoughts and warmest sympathies are with her family and will continue to be as they try to navigate life without her. Rest in Peace, Michelle.

Q: How did you meet Michelle?
A: My heart was heavy when I heard of this news. I first met Michelle and her mom at the Sinnemahoning Women In The Wilds event in 2015/2016, a ladies-only weekend of outdoor recreation and environmental education. The WITW event offered women the opportunity to participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as kayaking, archery, geocaching, interpretive walks, wild edibles, and more. As if gathering for 3 days in a group of 30 to 40 complete strangers, who shared the love of the outdoors, wasn’t enough of an adventure, meeting Michelle and her mom that weekend was the best adventure! Her personality was a breath of fresh air. She was so positive, enthusiastic and fun! Every year there after, I looked for Michelle and her mom to return to the annual WITW weekend. It was such a pleasure to meet Michelle along her journey. Wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of beautiful memories. Meeting Michelle was a moment when you realize that a total stranger suddenly became your friend.
To her family, I’m sending you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.

We will forever miss her presence at the animal hospital, that no matter how busy, she would stop to say hello and give us an update on her "kids", in particular Phoebe, whom Michelle and her husband had recently adopted. Michelle was my sorority sister. Even though I haven't seen or talked to her in many years, when I think of her I remember her smile, laugh, beauty and incredible light. She lit up the room with her presence.
